Abstract: Approaches to the modeling of systems containing a large number of active objects that combine the presence of elements of individual behavior, from complex to the simplest, are considered. A comparison of the three main approaches that were developed in modern simulation modeling: system dynamics, discrete-event modeling and agent modeling. Agent modeling is considered neither as a substitute for traditional approaches, but as a useful addition to system dynamics and discrete-event modeling.
