Abstract: Existing definitions of corporate social responsibility (CSR) proposed by the early scientists are analyzed and the diversity of approaches to the understanding of CSR is illustrated. All considered definitions are proposed to be divided into three groups. Social responsibility towards different interest groups is described. Steps that could be taken for making social responsibility work are studied.
