Abstract: Abstract: Analytical dependences to determine the steady cutting relief of the diamond wheel are given. It is theoretically and experimentally established the presence of a minimum of the relative consumption of diamond when grinding with diamond wheels on metal bonds, the value of which is determined by the ratio of the volume of intergranular space required for free placement of chips, and the magnitude of linear wear of grains before their volume destruction. It is shown that the minimum of the relative consumption of diamond and the maximum of the conditional cutting stress correspond to approximately the same grinding mode. From these positions, the influence of the strength of the metal being processed on the parameters of the cutting relief of the diamond wheel and the technological parameters of grinding has been established, as well as the practical recommendations have been given.
