Abstract: Currently, distance learning technologies occupy a strong position in the system of higher education: they can serve as a tool for organizing distance learning, can be actively used in combination with traditional forms and methods of teaching, and can be used to build a network of university interaction with employer organizations. University teachers have accumulated much experience using distance learning technologies when working with students, which requires rethinking. The study aims to focus on the positive aspects of using e-learning in higher educational institutions and the need for effective management of e-learning to improve the quality of education. The paper reveals the importance of using distance learning technologies in education. Distance learning offers many benefits, such as geographic diversity, responsiveness, continuity, and an individual approach, and currently, distance learning technologies have occupied a strong position in the system of higher education: they can serve as a tool for organizing distance learning, can be actively used in combination with traditional forms and methods of teaching, and can be used to build a network of university interaction with employer organizations. University teachers have accumulated much experience using distance learning technologies when working with students, which requires rethinking. The experience of using distance learning technologies is analyzed using the example of Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics. The existing difficulties of using distance learning technologies are specified. An algorithm for using the Moodle distance learning system as a tool environment for developing online courses by teachers characterized by functionality, flexibility, reliability, and ease of use is prescribed. However, Ukraine's education system must catch up with the fundamentals underlying distance learning courses. To ensure the effectiveness of distance learning, highly qualified teaching staff capable of working with students remotely must be trained; updated learning materials must be provided to students; and courses must be comprehensive, engaging, and simple to understand. Nevertheless, the prospects in this area of education in Ukraine are prominent.
