Integration of Ukraine into the European Labour Market

Abstract

Ukraine is beginning preparations for integration into the European labour market and the introduction of free movement of workers. Today, different countries use a system of occupational classifications based on one of the two most well-known classifications: International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO), with the current version of ISCO 08 and Standard Occupational Classification (SOC), with the current version of SOC 2019. It is worth noting that the Ukrainian occupational classification system is largely in line with European standards, and the application of crosswalk to the O*NET database brings a rich set of variables that describe work and worker characteristics, including skill requirements.
