| dc.description.abstract | Listening comprehension is a key element in learning English as a foreign language and remains one of the most challenging skills for many learners. Despite sufficient vocabulary and grammar knowledge, students often struggle to process spoken language due to phonological complexity, cognitive load, and limited sociocultural awareness. This article highlights listening as an active cognitive process that integrates bottom-up decoding and top-down prediction. It also outlines a structured instructional approach that includes initial exposure, guided tasks, extended responses, and the use of authentic materials. The goal is to help learners improve comprehension, develop metacognitive strategies, and understand spoken English more effectively in real communication. | uk_UA |
