The essence and approaches to defining the concept of «financial security of an enterprise» are considered. A refined definition of financial security of an enterprise is proposed by combining strategic, resource, process, system, target and protective approaches. A refined classification of threats to the financial security of an enterprise is proposed, which takes into account the peculiarities of the changing environment of the functioning of enterprises.
