This paper argues that creative collaboration in remote teams is not a simple tradeoff between flexibility and reduced in-person energy, but a sociotechnical capability that must be intentionally designed. Drawing on media synchronicity theory, it explains why remote creativity improves when teams separate divergence (asynchronous, “solo-first” ideation and artifact capture) from convergence (short, focused synchronous sessions for alignment and decisions). The article highlights the mutual knowledge problem and shows how durable context artifacts (decision records, assumptions, constraints) reduce misalignment and support idea recombination. It also emphasizes psychological safety and conflict management as critical infrastructure for remote creativity, proposing practical rituals that legitimize dissent, learning from failure, and inclusive participation. Overall, the paper offers actionable principles for building reliable creative output and sustained innovation in distributed teams.uk_UA
