Online Foreign Language Learning: Challenges and Solutions

Abstract

The rapid growth of digital technologies has transformed foreign language education, making online learning an essential component of modern educational systems. Online foreign language learning offers flexibility, accessibility, and personalized learning opportunities; however, it also presents several pedagogical, technological, and psychological challenges. This article examines the major challenges associated with online foreign language learning, including limited interaction, reduced learner motivation, technological barriers, assessment issues, and cultural limitations. Furthermore, it discusses evidence-based solutions that educators and institutions can implement to improve learning outcomes. The study concludes that successful online foreign language learning requires an integrated approach combining effective instructional design, appropriate technology, learner support, and innovative teaching methodologies.
