Development of a web application to support the process of learning foreign languages

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to develop a modern web application to support the process of learning foreign languages, which will provide in-teractive passage of lessons, personalization of learning, vocabulary re-petition and tracking of user progress. The object of design is a web ap-plication for learning foreign languages, which supports taking training courses, performing exercises, saving user progress, and a vocabulary re-petition system. The subject of the design is the development of user au-thentication modules, management of training courses, interactive lessons, vocabulary repetition system and server-side logic for checking answers using modern web technologies. The design method is structural and fu-nctional analysis, component modeling, client-server architecture design, and web application development using modern frontend and backend technologies. During the work on the project, an analysis of the subject area and research of existing platforms for learning foreign languages were carried out, their advantages and disadvantages were identified, the concept of the application was created and its main functionality was implemented. The web application is developed using TypeScript, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, Supabase, and Java Spring Boot technologies. The web application supports user authentication via Google OAuth, language and learning goal selection, interactive lessons, various types of exercises, a system for saving user progress, repetition of weak topics, and flashcards mode for learning new vocabulary. The app can be used as an interactive learning platform to support the learning process of English and French.
