Semantic Typology of Substantivized Adjectives in the Novel RICH MAN, POOR MAN by I. Shaw

Abstract

The given research material presents specific features of semantic typology of substantivized adjectives in the above mentioned novel, namely: substantivized adjectives denoting groups of people, abstract notions and colours the latter of which are least used. The word-building models like a + Adj. + N and the + N + N are most frequently used by the author which influences the syntactic role of the substantivized adjectives functioning in the sentences as either the predicative or attribute.
