Soft power on the world stage: the nobel act of building bridges or spreading propaganda

Abstract

The category of power in international relations is studied. The contradictory relationship between “hard” and “soft” power as tools for positioning a country on the world stage is analyzed. It is concluded that the approach of authoritarian and totalitarian regimes to strengthening soft power is problematic and counterproductive, and media literacy is becoming an indispensable defense against misinformation and unethical use of soft power.
