Macroenvironment of public hospitals in China: case of Quan Zhou people’s hospital

Abstract

This paper examines the development and challenges of Quan Zhou People's Hospital (QZPH), the first Western medicine medical institution in Qujing, Yunnan, founded in 1938. Using a PEST analysis framework, it evaluates the political, economic, social, and technological environments impacting the hospital’s strategic management, focusing on its transition to a regional medical center amid aging demographics, rising healthcare demands, and intensifying competition in China's evolving healthcare landscape.
