Abstract

The intersection of language teaching and language research involves a nuanced exploration of culture, encompassing diverse definitions and considerations ranging from speech act forms to the socio-cultural behaviors involved in knowledge transmission and acquisition. Despite the pivotal role of culture in language acquisition, its incorporation into language teaching often takes a back seat, relegated to the status of a vaguely defined and poorly integrated 'fifth competence. This paper emphasizes the significance of acknowledging and integrating cultural aspects within language teaching methodologies.
