dc.description.abstractThe article deals with the analysis of linguistic means which take part in realization of continuum in descriptive contexts in the novel “Anna Karenina” by Leo Tolstoy. We distinguish temporal and spatial continuum. Continuum is closely connected with the categories of retrospection and prospection. Unlike the category of retrospection which is expressed by lexical and grammatical means, the category of prospection is realized in an implicit way.
