Mechanism for improving the foreign trade competitiveness of the new European union member countries

Abstract

The manifestations of asymmetric trade integration within the EU were investigated, which manifests in the possibility of distinguishing a more economically developed core and less developed countries of the European periphery. This trend has developed historically. It has been determined that the main factor in encouraging new EU member states to intensify efforts to optimize intra-European trade flows is the abolition of the quota assistance scheme for member countries and the priority choice of projects financed by the country's leadership. To justify the relationship between the process of optimizing trade flows and the foreign trade conditions of the socio-economic development of the countries of the European Union, an analysis was made of the changes in individual indicators of its development after the accession of new states. The instruments of supranational regulation of external and internal commodity flows were identified as a factor in expanding integration processes within the EU: regulation of foreign trade tariffs, anti-dumping regulation, rules of origin of goods, rules for measuring customs value, import of goods into the EU economic space, the establishment of administrative rules and requirements for environmental protection and public health. It was concluded that the results obtained in this study regarding the characteristics of the mechanism for enhancing the competitiveness of foreign trade of the new member states of the European Union can be taken into account when developing the main directions of the mechanism for enhancing the competitiveness of foreign trade of Ukraine within the framework of modern integration processes.
