The Use of Authentic Video Materials for the Development of Communicative Competence of Students

Abstract

The article deals with the usage of authentic video materials for teaching a foreign language at non-linguistic higher educational establishments. Several approaches are singled out to the definition of the concept of authenticity of materials. Recommendations are given for the selection of authentic video materials. Shortcomings and advantages of many the features of such materials are analysed. Some platforms where to find educational and entertaining videos are recommended.
