Abstract: The research is devoted to the current pedagogical problem of engaging students in the teaching-learning process through gamification. The article describes the concept of "motivating students for academic activities," its components, in particular cognitive, emotional and behavioural or social ones, and their performance. The essence of the concept of gamification as a pedagogical tool has been examined as well as its key features and principles, and ways of implementing gamification in the educational process of higher school.
