The rapid development of digital technologies – particularly manufacturing management information systems, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence systems, and cloud computing – opens new opportunities for increasing the flexibility and controllability of industrial enterprises. However, the quantitative assessment of the impact of IT on the dynamics of production systems under turbulent environmental conditions remains insufficiently explored. This paper proposes a modified Lotka–Volterra-type model to describe the interaction between production and IT as components of a single adaptive system. A distinctive feature of the model is the inclusion of a variable external stress factor, which combines periodic and impulsive (crisis) components and external support mechanisms for both subsystems. Numerical modeling conducted in the GNU Octave environment demonstrates the system’s adaptive behavior: initial growth, crisis-induced decline, and stabilization at a new level. The results confirm the system’s capacity for sustainable functioning under external pressure, making the model an effective and significant tool for analyzing the dynamics of digitally transformed industrial systems and developing strategies to enhance their resilience and viability.
