Deportation, forced displacement or evacuation: international legal criteria for identifying crimes against children

Abstract

Against the backdrop of the Russian Federation’s ongoing armed aggression against Ukraine, the issue of the legal classification of the aggressor’s actions against the civilian population, particularly children, has become particularly acute. The terms “deportation”, “forced displacement” and “evacuation” are frequently used in public and legal discourse. The article defines the content of these categories and analyzes the criteria for their interrelationship.
